Me

The Artist

Hello, Welcome to my Pet Portrait Blog. First I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised just outside of Buffalo NY. I am now living in Atlanta GA. My husband and I have two beautiful daughters, 4 Shih Tzu's and a Great Dane. Life is good! Growing up we always had a dog and sometimes other little critters. I was lucky to have parents that loved animals as much as I did. As a little girl I loved to draw and color. I would sit for hours with my friends and draw different things and we would have contests. Later when I moved to GA and after I married and had children I got into the collectibles/antique business. I enjoyed that for 15 years.I started painting on furniture, clothes, glass and old windows. Recycling the old windows and furniture into something whimsy was a big hit. My customers would have me paint windows to hang on their front porches, in their gardens, and even in their houses. That was the beginning of painting murals at home, churches and store fronts. Again people were loving the whimsical style I had. From there I went to a few art classes and loved what I was learning. I was surprised to find that my passion in painting was not landscape, still life or people portraits. My favorite was to paint animals. Maybe because I love animals and I can connect with them. Again, friends and family were enjoying my paintings and soon I was getting jobs to paint peoples pets for gifts. So here I am and loving it.

Happy Holidays Furry Friends

It's been a busy year in everyway. Hope all of you are doing well. The Christmas Season is here again and it is a busy busy time. My pups and I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. These two painting are going to my two nieces for their Christmas gifts. They both got new puppies this past year so I thought what a better gift than a portrait of their fuzzy friend.

Pet Portraits are now hanging in Centerville Animal Hospital.

I would like to thank Dr. Bradley for letting me hang some of my paint pet portraits at her Centerville Animal Hospital located at 3331 Highway 124. We have been coming here with our pets since the late 90's. We have been very pleased with ...the very friendly staff and all the doctors who work there. It is a very home town feel where your pets are loved and treated with gentle care. They also have boarding if you need to leave your pet while out of town. I would recommend this Animal Hospital for your loved pet. Also stop by to see my painted portraits on the walls. They have my cards at the front desk. If you would like to order a portrait just pick up a card and call or email me. Have a wonderful day.

Animals are such a gift from God. It is so sad that so many are abused or abandoned all over the world. There are so many ways we can help these poor animals. If you can't be a foster parent or just can't adopt you can always volunteer at local shelters. Also, this idea may be small but every little bit helps. I just posted on my Face book page (Pet Portraits by Becky Kidd) If you have household items you don't need anymore there are Thrift Stores that donate the profits to our animals that need your help. You should be able to find Thrift Stores in your area that will donate their profits like this. I live in the Atlanta area and there are quite a few of these Thrift Stores. So if you can't adopt or foster and you want to help this may be for you. Everyone has junk that may be some ones treasure.

Having a great time doing what I love.

Turtles who would have thought. Yes, it is a pet of Danny's  and they live in Texas. How cool is that! Lucy is also Danny's. She is a sweet girl and I think her and the turtle are best friends.
The canvas with the six dogs is painted on a 24 x 30 in" canvas. This family is from different times. Some are in Doggie Heaven and some are still running around in the green green grass. The owner wanted to have them all together and can see them now anytime she looks up on her wall. There is nothing like the love of your pets.
