Me

The Artist

Hello, Welcome to my Pet Portrait Blog. First I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised just outside of Buffalo NY. I am now living in Atlanta GA. My husband and I have two beautiful daughters, 4 Shih Tzu's and a Great Dane. Life is good! Growing up we always had a dog and sometimes other little critters. I was lucky to have parents that loved animals as much as I did. As a little girl I loved to draw and color. I would sit for hours with my friends and draw different things and we would have contests. Later when I moved to GA and after I married and had children I got into the collectibles/antique business. I enjoyed that for 15 years.I started painting on furniture, clothes, glass and old windows. Recycling the old windows and furniture into something whimsy was a big hit. My customers would have me paint windows to hang on their front porches, in their gardens, and even in their houses. That was the beginning of painting murals at home, churches and store fronts. Again people were loving the whimsical style I had. From there I went to a few art classes and loved what I was learning. I was surprised to find that my passion in painting was not landscape, still life or people portraits. My favorite was to paint animals. Maybe because I love animals and I can connect with them. Again, friends and family were enjoying my paintings and soon I was getting jobs to paint peoples pets for gifts. So here I am and loving it.

Dominic's 3rd Birthday

This is Dominic. He is 3 today. He is my daughters dog but I am around him the most. Dominic weighs 160lbs and is a sweet boy. I have 4 Shih Tzu too. I'm not sure if the Shih Tzu's think they are a Great Dane or Dominic thinks he is a Shih Tzu.They all get along just great. Dominic loves to go to the park for walks and also the dog park to play with other fluffy friends. If he sees that I have my sneakers on look out. THAT MEANS PARK!!!!!! Happy Birthday Dominic, you are a good boy

February has been a busy month.

These four pups are all from the same family.  You can see they all have their own personalities. The customer Janet wanted to have their names on the portrait which I think is a great idea. Bear the black Chow was a rescue and had lost an eye. If you notice his one eye has his beautiful black hair covering where his eye was. He looks like a sweet guy.
Heidi is a Rat Terrier and I am sure she is full of life. If you know Terriers, they have a spunky personality. Jack the black Schnauzers seem like a loyal companion and very bright. Ben the Spaniel is one that you just want to cuddle on the couch with. I am sure they are all wonderful and I am sure Janet feels very blessed to have the four of them.

Custom order

This Huskie is the furry friend of a guy I went to High School with all the way in Buffalo, NY. We found each other on face book and Rick ( the guy from High School) saw my pet portrait site on FB and asked if I would paint his dog. He sent me a picture of Badit but he had a ball in his mouth. Rick didn't want the ball in the painting so I think I captured his express pretty good. It's really is better to have the picture the way you would like it for me but I think it turned out fine. I believe Rick was happy when Bandits portrait arrived by UPS.
